The Matthew Shepard Foundation is an LGBT nonprofit organization, which was founded in 1998 by Dennis and Judy Shepard in memory of their son, Matthew. The Foundation runs education, outreach and advocacy programs. To spread awareness to a younger audience about hate crimes, an event was held at a skatepark with competitive skateboarding.
This work has been featured in: HOW Magazine, AIGA DC 50, Print Magazine, Communication Arts, and DC Ad Club Addys.
I digitally illustrated the Matthew Shepard Foundation mantra onto a skate deck. The skateboard was an auction piece during and after the event. There was a possibly to expand the art to other printed collaterals.
Fun Fact:
Mayan art inspired the execution of this skate deck design, following a creative brainstorm with my creative director.
